The Power of Grace Ministries

September 10

Understand the power of God’s grace in your life. He took Paul who was persecuting the church and turned him into a champion for Jesus Christ.

Ephesians 3:8-10
, 8 To me, who am less than the least of all the saints, this grace was given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ, 9 and to make all see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the ages has been hidden in God who created all things through Jesus Christ; 10 to the intent that now the manifold wisdom of God might be made known by the church to the principalities and powers in the heavenly places.

In the beginning of Acts Chapter 8 we see Paul was actively trying to destroy the church by the authority given to him from the current day religious leaders. I encourage you to read Acts 9 verse 1-30 to get an understanding of Ephesians 3:1-8.

At first is may appear that Paul is contradicting himself when he uses the phrase, “the unsearchable riches of Christ”, and then in verse 10, “now the manifold wisdom of God might be made known.”  They are both true statements in that unsearchable is indicative of the vastness of the riches in Christ, not that they cannot be known. 1 Corinthians 2:16 tells us that we now have the mind of Christ. Our understanding of the manifold wisdom of God and the understanding of the riches of Christ is only limited to our own lack of knowledge and ability to walk by faith and not by sight, (2 Corinthians 5:7). Our hearing the preached word is the beginning of our understanding, and if only the word is preached and not man’s opinion, the consistent preached word will add to our faith and keep us in the general correct direction. Romans 10:17 “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God”. Our true increase of knowledge only comes through our personal study of God’s word and by asking the Holy Spirit to reveal the wisdom and understanding we need to walk in this world. We have already been made to sit in Christ at the right hand of God, Ephesians 2:6; and we have been blessed with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ. God knows what He and Jesus have done for us, and Satan knows as well. As long as we do not fully understand, we are left open for deception by the enemy and that is all he can do to us. If we do not walk by faith in the understanding and truth of the gospel of Christ, Satan wins a battle that he has already been defeated in. How sad for our Lord to lay down His life that we may have life and life more abundantly, and then watch His children flounder around down here on earth in beggarly, legalistic lives trying to “work” our way into heaven.

When we speak the word of God and not what we see with our natural eyes about ourselves or others, the enemy loses ground in his deception. (Proverbs 10:21) Christians often have long religious sounding prayers asking God to heal us, or move the mountain in our lives, or bless us in one way or another; only to end up disappointed that our prayers were not answered. We even go further by justifying it saying “God knows what I need and maybe He is trying to teach me something through this illness, or poverty; after all Paul pleaded three times for his thorn in the flesh to be removed and the Lords only reply was “My grace is sufficient for you, for my strength is made perfect weakness”. I have actually heard doctrines made out of living in your infirmities and poverty so that Jesus will be magnified. This is not true and happens all too often when someone “sound bites” the word of God instead of preaching the truth of the gospels. When you read the rest of Paul’s teachings in the New Testament, coupled with the four gospels and the other authors of the New Testament it is made clear that God has done for us all, and everything, He needs to do for us. He and Jesus are now sitting down in their positions of authority upholding their word which gives us, God’s children, the authority we need to speak to our situation and command it to line up with the word of God, in the name of Jesus. This is why Paul says, “to the intent that now the manifold wisdom of God might be made known by the church to the principalities and powers in the heavenly places”, verse 10. We are to speak to those things in our lives that do not line up with God’s word, not plead, beg, or whine. (Matthew 17:20, Luke 17:6) My encouragement to help understand the power of faith spoken is to read Hebrews Chapter 11.
