If you are a business owner or manager of people rule the people under you with grace. Remembering that God is not a respecter of persons.

Ephesians 6:9
, And you, masters, do the same things to them, giving up threatening, knowing that your own Master also is in heaven, and there is no partiality with Him.

                Human nature has difficulty following the word of God. There seems to be a one-up mentality that creates an internal desire to prove superiority when people are promoted to a higher office. In business there is always “water cooler” talk about the upper management, but as soon as one of those people gets a promotion they change and look down at their previous “water cooler” friends. It saddens me to see some of the same natural behavior in the church. The consistent grappling for the best position is contrary to God’s word. In Matthew 20:25-28 Jesus called His disciples to Himself and pointed out how the Princes of Gentiles lord their positions over each other and said we are not to act like them. (Ye know that the princes of the Gentiles exercise dominion over them, and they that are great exercise authority upon them. 26 But it shall not be so among you: but whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister; 27 And whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant: 28 Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.) In the NKJV, the translation uses servant, and to serve instead of minister. The same principle for employees in Verse 5-8, stands for the employer in verse 9, remembering that God is no respecter of persons. An employer or boss should always treat an employee Christ like. In doing so you may change the heart of a non-believer and strengthen the heart of a believer. Dr. Miles Monroe wrote a book on leadership which changed my whole approach of being an employer, a husband, a father, and eventually when I became a pastor. A very simple summation of his book is that to be a good leader one must always look and promote the best in those being lead. A great leader is one who is constantly looking for and training someone to be his/her replacement, understanding that promotion is far better than domination, and exhortation brings forth greater work than condemnation. I recommend his book for anyone in any type of leadership whether it is in the business world or within the church.
