The Power of Grace Ministries

June 11

The strength of the gospel today lies in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ nearly 2000 years ago. Man’s effort has nothing to do with it, other than to believe and confess.

Hebrews 9:16-17
, 16 For where there is a testament, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator. 17 For a testament is in force after men are dead, since it has no power at all while the testator lives.”

As established in the previous verse there is an inheritance for God’s adopted children. And if there is an inheritance there must be a testament which is the last disposition which one makes of his earthly possessions after his death. This is key point to focus on. Under the Old Covenant there was constant sacrifice in effort to maintain what little the people actually had, whereas under the New Covenant all we have was provided for us by another person, Jesus. This comparison is very much similar to what the children of Israel were originally offered in the naturel when God took them into soy on the Promised Land. They saw that is was a truly a land flowing with milk and honey and even a cluster of grapes had to have two men carry it back to Moses; however there were giants in the land and they were scared to enter. Did you ever think why God would take them to a land that had giants in it? How else could the land and the fruit it produced be tended to without giants, since a cluster of grapes took two normal men to carry? What we can see here is that the Promised Land in essence would have been their natural inheritance after they went in and conquered the giants with God’s help. Today we have spiritual giants in our land called doubt, fear, legalism, and condemnation from those who do not believe. The difference is we do need to fight the enemy to receive our inheritance because Jesus has already fought the fight, won the prize, and left it to us freely in His testament.

A testament is not complete as long as it is in probate and the parties who will receive the inheritance agree to receive it. Jesus has taken His blood into heavens court and sprinkled it on heavens alter as His signature of approval of His testament to us. How sad is it that so many Christians continue to claw, fight, and strive to obtain their inheritance through strong adherence to man’s religious doctrines and attempts of following the Old Testament ways in effort to gain what has already been given. The death of Jesus on the cross not only took all of our sins and transgressions upon Himself, but because God handed everything over to Him, his death handed everything He had over to us. Have you begun ti enter into your promise land? Have you fully accepted the truth that Jesus’ perfect work on the cross has not only paid your debt, but left you all of His blessings? Ephesians 1:3 says we have been blessed with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places.
